We naturally lose muscle mass as we age. Ironic being that we need it more than ever as we get older! The good news is we can reverse Sarcopenia (muscle loss) and it starts with strength training. How heavy? Only enough to tell your muscles to grow. Don’t worry you don’t have to flip tractor tires. Lightweights can create Hypertrophy (muscle growth) and you can start today!
Try not to overthink this one. Being active is simply everyday movement that adds up to a healthier you over time. Yes, there is a benefit to high-intensity cardiovascular exercise but if you’re not there yet don’t sweat it! And don’t assume that getting out for a quick walk around the block has no effect. Start with the first step and move your body in a way that feels good to you now!
As Henepola Gunaratana said: “Mindfulness gives you time, time gives you choices, choices skillfully made lead to freedom.” Who needs a little freedom from the habits that take you off course? We all do! For me this plays out in almost every aspect of life. When mindful, I take the time to choose my next best move. Let’s make your next move together!
